The Perfect Wedge

Being a slightly short person, I take my heels very seriously. They give that little (or a lot) bit of a boost that puts me up in normal people height territory. So when I started my search for the perfect wedge – it took me literally half of the summer. I bought about four different pairs and ended up with at least two (and multiple pairs that have already been pushed to the back of my closet) that will stay in my closet for a long time.

I originally spotted my favorite pair on one of my local beach babes and shortly after on my favorite local blogger’s website  (seriously, check her out!) and fell in love. Unfortunately, they were a little out of my price range. So instead, I found two pairs of cheap wedges ($79.95, $59) that didn’t quite cut it and equaled the price of the expensive pair… typical.

I’m always on the lookout for a pair of shoes that I can wear in everyday situations. Because I’m a photojournalist, I’m on my feet climbing on top of awkward places quite frequently, and can’t really afford amazing health insurance – so shoes are important. Many of my work shoes are Naturalizer, but most of those aren’t extremely fashion forward. And, while I love them, my everyday pair of Havaianas are a little too mundane and beach town bum looking for all situations.

Which is why what I like about the ankle strap wedges is that they stay on throughout all situations – mostly because they are STRAPPED on. Also, the heel isn’t too high, but still gives me a little boost.

They were the perfect bachelorette party heels! Not too high to fall when drunk, but low enough to walk in all day long.

Luckily, I’m tenacious and discovered a really cool website called ‘Worth It‘ that bookmarks products you like and lets you know when whatever you’re Jonesing after is in your price range. My range was $50, and a couple weeks after bookmarking it I got an email that they went down to $49 from $125. Whooo hooo!

And with that little internet trick – the perfect wedge sandals were mine.
