Daring Denim

This fall an impressive new crop of jackets has emerged from behind the usually bland array of plaid, leather and buttoned down pea coats.

Jean jackets, the simple yet classically chic season staple – has come back with serious style, and shades of military camo are turning fall colors into fields of green.

Not only are denim jackets being bedazzled with tough studs and southwest inspired patterned sleeves – tough military jackets are also being taken up a notch and blending in is no longer their purpose.

Options for newly fashioned outdoor duds at the South Bay Galleria are never ending – but the options for updated outerwear at Guess turn basic to bangin’.

Their Brittney Denim Jacket with Contrast Sleeves (on sale for $99.99) with studded embellishments, patterned pockets and leather fringe takes denim to from vaguely stylish to vogue.

While I usually reserve green jackets for blending in on the paintball field, this year’s new options have made me reconsider.

ANGL, a surprisingly inexpensive yet fashion forward shop’s Military Parka Jacket ($49.99)  has all the staples of the perfect fall to winter jacket – detachable hoodie, cinched waist and serious style.

The military inspired jacket at Express ($98) fits in just the right places, while their sweatshirt and denim ($98) makes cozy cool.

For the perfect basic jacket bebe’s basic denim (sale $84.99) hits the spot – especially the perfect mid drift stopping point and the Limited’s perfectly structured OBR Denim Jacket ($79.95) goes perfectly over jeans and a t shirt.

The best part of denim is it’s versatility – both on the legs and now over the arms.

Walking down the Strand in Hermosa Beach proved the resurgence of forgotten denim and green jacket styles and makes me reconsider my donated middle school duds. Especially seeing woman after woman looking chic and put together while combining old with new. I guess I’m going to have dig through my closet to see what styles I can rotate back into my closet – or maybe I’ll just find something completely new with studs and some bling.
